Concertina - Mary MacNamara

Mary MacNamara from Tulla in County Clare is one of the great concertina players. Her elegant and subtle playing of the music of her local area is in marked contrast to the rushed playing of many modern musicians. She is joined on some of the tracks by her neighbours PJ and Martin Hayes, fiddlers in the East Clare style, and by Seamus Quinn on piano.

Banjo - Padraic McDonagh

Banjo - Padraic McDonagh

'Páraic Mac Donnchadha, a native of Killupane, Ahascragh, launches his CD ‘Not Before Time…39 Years in the Making’ or “Thar Am” at this year’s Larry Reynolds Festival. Páraic has waited almost four decades before recording this exceptional memorial to Giants of the tradition, with whom he has been fortunate to play over the years. The music of several icons such as Paddy Fahey, Paddy Kelly, Paddy Carty and Conor Tully imbues the eighteen tracks on the CD, where Páraic has been joined by a great team of top class performers including Cormac Begley (concertina), Graham Guerin (accordion), Claire Egan (fiddle/viola), Mac Dara Mac Donncha (Uilleann Pipes), Macdara Ó Faoláin (bouzouki), Terence O’Reilly (Guitar), Libby McCrohan (Bouzouki), Sinéad Nic Dhonncha (Keyboards), Colm Murphy (bodhrán) and Noel O’Grady (bouzouki).
Páraic played with Larry many years ago in the famous "Village Coachhouse" in Brookline, Boston, USA when he spent a Summer working there and has fond memories of those great sessions. Páraic, his father the renowned sean-nós singer, Seán ‘Ac Dhonncha and brothers and sister played sessions here in Ballinasloe in the Cellar Bar and in Minnie Sullivan’s pub, with other well-known emigrant musicians such as Mairtín Byrnes from Chapelfinnerty, who lived much of his life in London and some great local musicians, over many years. Páraic is delighted to return with this year’s Festival, to the home of so many pleasurable, musical memories.'
